In keeping with the theme of old-school hip hop, after i "discovered" tcq, i soon fell in love with Slick Rick. How can you not? Here's this ugly-ass dude with terrible teeth and an eye patch, who's singing is so, well, slick, that you're willing to look past all his external failures and believe that women truly are all over him. He's inspiring, really. He's got a good story too...in the early 90s he shot some innocent dude and his cousin and went to jail. Then in 2002, he was arrested by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (if a name ever spoke to north american xenophobia, it's this one) after performing on a boat in the caribbean. because of some legal bullshit, he was supposed to be deported but ended up just staying in jail for 17 months while being repeatedly refused bail. Pretty wicked.
