Ong Bak 2: The Beginning

I have a particular issue with the naming of this sequel/prequel to the original Ong Bak movie. By calling it "The Beginning," I'm going to have to assume it's a prequel. I think that's a fair assumption; no asses are being made out of you or me. BUT, in the original movie he's a Muai Thai expert, fair enough. In this one...again, the PREquel, he's an expert at, like, 7 different fighting styles, including drunken boxing, wooshu (spelling?) and more. So what, did he forget all this shit in between the prequel and the original? anyway, this shit looks AMAZING!!!

To be honest, i don't think this has anything to do with the original Ong Bak, but i like to rant.

Book of Eli trailer

You know, Taken, starring Liam Neeson, has really re-invigorated my interest in action movies starring mid-life men featuring actors you wouldn't particularly imagine being especially agile. Now, Denzel Washington has done his share of action movies, but his martial arts-based fight scenes in this trailer definitely harken to the honed abilities shown by Mr. Neeson in Taken. The same is true for an upcoming John travolta movie...the name currently escapes me, but it looks okay and I believe it was directed (or produced) by the same guy who did Taken. Anyhow, check out this trailer...it looks pretty rad.

Video for "Lust for Life" and "Hellhole Ratrace" by Girls

Man, the Lust for Life video is a great. It totally represents the cathartic, crazeeeeee and beautiful feelings the song evokes. For two more tracks, check out two posts below.

P.s. if you get some rubbish Pearl Jam shit at first, it's just an ad, so don't turn it off too quick!

Lust for Life:

This second one, "Hellhole Ratrace," makes evident the fact that this guy's broken man. shit, he's had it hard and he's damn good at expressing it.

Hellhole Ratrace:

And, finally, "Lust for Life" "live"...a good way to see what we have in store for us here in toronto on November 10th...when Girls will be playing live at the good'ole El Mo!!!

The new Islands album, "Vapours" is awesome!

I really enjoyed their first one "Return to the Sea," but this one's even better. Super danceable and this song, the title track, is the perfect example of said danceability. Enjoy!

Some tracks from the latest Girls album..."Album"

Shit, the lead singer's song is sad as shit. I'll just quote some stuff from somewhere else for laziness' sake.

Girls frontman Christopher Owens grew up in the Children of God cult. His older brother died as a baby because the cult didn't believe in medical attention. His dad left. He and his mother lived around the world, and the cult sometimes forced his mother to prostitute herself. As a teenager, Owens fled and lived as a Texas gutter-punk for a while. Then a local millionaire took Owens under his wing, and Owens moved to San Francisco. There, he and Chet "JR" White formed Girls, and recorded Album, their debut album, under the influence of just about every kind of pill they could find.
